Monash University supports, promotes and conducts high quality research that holds significant impact in Australia and overseas. Graduates from Monash Educations doctoral programs occupy senior positions in education and research in many countries around the world within both the public and private sector. A PhD in Education takes the form of the Monash Doctoral Program a PhD for the 21st century. The program enables you to complete extensive, independent research on an agreed topic under the supervision of at least two expert academics. Your research will aim to improve teaching practice and extend your expertise and skills relating to pressing educational issues. The thesis should make a significant contribution to human knowledge and theory, and demonstrate your ability to carry out independent research. The core research project is enhanced by professional development activities or coursework units that provide you with the skills required to make an impact in academia, industry, government or the wider community.

Entry requirements

1. Monash graduate research entry is degree-specific. Doctoral entry normally requires a relevant four-year bachelor degree with a research component at honours H2A level, or a relevant master's with a substantial research component at H2A-equivalent standard. Research master's entry normally uses the corresponding H2B standard of 65 or above. Equivalent research qualifications and demonstrated research capacity may be assessed. 2. Relevant discipline and research component; H2A-equivalent standard for doctoral entry or H2B/65+ for research master's entry; faculty-specific criteria; English proficiency.
