Start of expanded content A PhD in IT takes the form of the Monash Doctoral Program a PhD for the 21st century. The program consists of extensive, independent research on an agreed chosen topic, supported by a minimum of two academic supervisors. This is enhanced by professional development activities that provide you with the skills required to make an impact in academia, industry, government or the wider community. Your study will result in a research thesis or alternative approved output, which makes a valuable contribution to the current body of knowledge on your chosen topic. The award of the degree is generally accepted as showing you are capable of carrying out independent research.

Entry requirements

Requirements are recorded per intake year and per audience. Meeting them does not guarantee an offer.

1. Monash graduate research entry is degree-specific. Doctoral entry normally requires a relevant four-year bachelor degree with a research component at honours H2A level, or a relevant master's with a substantial research component at H2A-equivalent standard. Research master's entry normally uses the corresponding H2B standard of 65 or above. Equivalent research qualifications and demonstrated research capacity may be assessed. 2. Relevant discipline and research component; H2A-equivalent standard for doctoral entry or H2B/65+ for research master's entry; faculty-specific criteria; English proficiency.
