In this course, you will specialise in key areas of interpreting and translation practice in healthcare settings. You will gain essential knowledge and specialist language specific to this field. You will learn about the communication styles and discourse features of the various participants that medical interpreters encounter. This includes doctors, nurses, clinicians, mental health specialists, and patients. An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) with a minimum pass (50%) average. OR A minimum of three years work experience or higher-education study in a relevant field*. Applicants are required to provide a Curriculum Vitae and a reference from their employer. Relevant fields can include (but not limited to): linguistics, applied linguistics, language study or teaching, translation and interpreting, TESOL and speech pathology. 'Entry requirements' - minimum qualifications Applicants must have NAATI certification as a Certified Interpreter or Certified Provisional Interpreter in a NAATI recognised language. English requirements Applicants must also meet the English language requirements. Planning reference: missing 2027 requirements use the latest published requirements from 2026; newer explicit 2027 requirements take precedence.
