The Master of Creative Arts Therapy is a unique blended learning program offering you a specialization in either drama or dance movement therapy. You will undertake supervised industry placements in various contexts including community, health and education. The creative arts therapies are a form of psychotherapy utilizing creative modalities, including drama, dance, music and visual art-making within a therapeutic relationship to improve and inform physical, mental and emotional well-being. The course provides you with studies in theory, methods, research and professional practice across health, educational and community contexts. There is an emphasis on how each artistic modality is employed in teams with groups and individuals. The teaching method incorporates experiential, theoretical and practice-based learning approaches.

To be considered for entry into this course, you must: - Have completed a bachelor degree (AQF7) or equivalent in any discipline. Or - Have six years of documented relevant experience. Relevant experience may include creative or performing arts, community arts practice or education. Please note this is not a complete list of possible experience. Relevance is always assessed on a case-by-case basis. The University of Melbourne is committed to maintaining a transparent admissions policy by clearly communicating all entry scores to prospective students. Entry requirements to the University of Melbourne are regularly reviewed to ensure they align with the University's Selection and Admissions Policy. The entry requirements published for this course will apply from the start year 2027 intake onwards. Relevant experience is measured in full-time years but may be completed within a part-time equivalent timeframe. Where degree levels are referenced, levels align with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Applications are assessed against these standards.
