The Master of Professional Accounting (Extension) is designed to provide non-accounting graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge required for a career in professional accounting. The completion of the course satisfies the academic requirements for entry to the professional programs of CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA). This course provides the ideal academic foundation to pursue a career in accounting. It provides the knowledge, understanding and expertise necessary for employment in the accounting profession. Further, the professional recognition of the course by CPA Australia and ICAA provides students with internationally recognised qualifications that enhance both their employment and promotion opportunities. The course aims to provide local and international graduates with the requisite knowledge in accounting and the role accounting plays in providing information products supporting all areas of business activity. In addition to providing a professionally recognised qualification, the course comprises a mix of accounting, finance, legal, communication and economics subjects that collectively provide a range of essential business skills and knowledge that are necessary for employment in todays dynamic business environment. Career options include management-level positions in industry or government, as well as not-for-profit organisations. With the CPA and ICAA qualification being recognised internationally, the prospect for overseas employment is also enhanced.
